MICHAEL E. GOMBA

We sadly say goodbye to our loving father. Michael E. Gomba passed away peacefully in his sleep June 4th 2017. He was born November 17, 1923 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Anna and George Gomba.

Michael graduated from Coughlin High School and later Hemphill Diesel School. After serving as a sergeant in Italy during WW11, he returned home to the love of his life Emily Gomba and shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Hand in hand they shared many adventures together, especially enjoying visits to their second home Bethany Beach. (Mel)

Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mike had a successful career as a regional sales manager and consultant for Schmitt Baking Company.

Michael was gregarious and had a passion for life. He had many hobbies including: painting, music, reading, and nature. As a proud president of the Grasshoppers Golf Club, he organized and enjoyed many trips nationwide.

Those who knew him would say he had a gift for making everyone feel special. All will miss his charismatic smile, and tender loving manner. With an open heart and open arms, he loved his faith, friends, but most of all, his family.

Emily’s wait for her best friend is over, and they are together at last. His daughters, Thann and Michelle, granddaughter Victoria, and his dog Boczè will deeply miss him. “Limestone” & “To the family!”

The family would like to express their appreciation to Michael’s doctor, Victoria Mawn, and his visiting nurse, Pauline Mwangi who took great care of him. Catholic services will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be sent to St. Jude Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to an animal rescue shelter of your choice.
