JUNE E. UPDEGRAVE ROBINSON

June E. Updegrave Robinson, age 96, of Wilmington, DE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in the comfort of her own home in N. Graylyn Crest with family present.

A direct descendant of one of the founding fathers of Germantown, PA, June was born in Tamaqua, PA to Mark and Laura Updegrave. She often talked of her school days and the friendships that lasted into adulthood. June eventually moved to the Midwest, doing defense work for the Atlas Company. There she met C. Leroy Robinson (Robbie) of Sgt. Bluff, IA and they were married in 1943. They lived in Des Moines, IA, Houston, TX and in 1955 they settled down in Wilmington, DE along with their children: Joann, Ronald and Deborah.

June was a skilled cook who specialized in hearty farm style cooking such as apple dumplings, stuffed cabbage and chicken and dumplings. She was very artistic and produced many pieces of painted ceramics and beautiful crocheted afghans. June also loved gardening and was often found working outside around her house in her beautiful gardens.

June was a devoted long time member of the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd in Wilmington, DE since 1960. She served faithfully on the Alter Guild for many years and participated in other programs which included The Voice (newsletter), Evangelical, 20th year anniversary committee, fellowship program and the shepherding program.

For a small town girl, June was able to see the world beyond the United States; South America, Mexico, Canada and Europe. One of her most memorable trips was to Oberammergau, Germany where she witnessed the famous Passion Play.

June is survived by her son, Ronald (Beth) of West Chester, PA and Cold Brook, NY; granddaughters Jayne Lips of Bushkill, PA; Jennifer Teem of Sonora, CA; Heather McGraw (Jason) of Sterling, VA: grandsons Christian Lips (Jenny) of Tamarack, FL; Shane Robinson of Littleton, CO; Jason Sheridan of Boothwyn, PA; Brian Sheridan of Melbourne, FL and Daniel Sheridan of Aston, PA. June is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Amanda and Jack Teem; William, Christian, Michael and Sebastian Lips; Slade Damron and Mackenzie Robinson.

June was predeceased in death by C. Leroy Robinson (husband of 42 years), her sister, Jean Porter, her daughters Joann Lips and Deborah Sheridan as well as son in-laws William (Bill) Lips and Michael Sheridan.

June's memorial service will be August 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd located at 1530 Foulk Road; Wilmington, DE 19803; where friends may call after 10:00 am. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the church immediately following the service.
