Christopher Philip Lavelle, age 17, went to Heaven on October 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Christopher attended St. Edmond's Academy, St. Mary Magdalen School, and Delaware Military Academy, achieving the rank of Ensign at DMA. He was a member of the National Honor Society.

Christopher loved sports. He played ice hockey and ran cross country and track. His team won the 2014 CYM cross country championship, and in 2015 his Puckheads ice hockey team won the Delaware Middle School League South Division Championship in which Christopher scored the game tying and winning goals. Christopher’s DMA team won the 2017 ICSHL South Division Varsity Championship.

Christopher is survived by his parents Philip and Linda Lavelle; grandparents Darwin and Carole Reich and Elizabeth Lavelle; aunts and uncles Alan (Tracy) Reich, Stewart (Lauri) Lavelle, David (Marybeth McGeehan) Lavelle, Mary Cairns, Anne (Frank) Davolos, John Lavelle and Greg (Ruth) Lavelle; as well as numerous cousins and relatives.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Dr. John J. Lavelle, DDS.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 19 from 6-8 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered the following day, Friday, October 20 at 11 am, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place privately.

The family would like to thank all those that have supported them, and continue to offer support, during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Christopher’s name to the Open Net Foundation or Saint Mary Magdalen Church or School.
