Edna Mae Carver of New Castle, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Born on August 20, 1927 in Altoona, PA her parents were the late Elwood and Margeret Vaughn. The family moved to Wilmington when Edna was 12 years old and that is where she lived most of her life. A graduate of Wilmington High School, Edna later went on to get her associate's degree from Delaware Technical and Community College.

Edna was married to William James Carver for 64 years. She worked for the Christina School District for 25 years before retiring and moving to Glen Mills, PA. She was an active member of First Alliance Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Edna will be deeply missed by her two children, Richard Carver and Donna Syme (Robert); her 9 grandchildren, Monica Kreck (Jim), Roc Carver (Jisha), William Carver, Steve Syme, Kristen Syme (Samy Alamri), James Carver (Kellie), Whitney Carver, Allyson Leech (Matt), and Michael Mcgonigle (Vicki). She also has 9 great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, William, her daughter-in-law, Nancy, her brothers, Elwood (Eddie), George, and Robert Vaughn, and her sisters, Mary Vaughn and Mildred Heiser.

Services will be at Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Monday, March 12, with a viewing at 10:00 AM and a service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park. (You may call 302-478-2204 on Sunday in case of possible postponement due to inclement weather.) In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Season's Hospice at Christiana Hospital, 4755 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19718, First Alliance Church, 2145 Graves Road, Hockessin, DE 19707, or Faith Baptist Church.
