JANET THERESA VICTORIA HOHMAN SALEMI

Janet Theresa Victoria Hohman Salemi passed away on April 14, 2018, one month shy of her 90th birthday, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Janet graduated cum laude from Mt. St. Agnes College in 1950 with a Bachelor's degree in History and Education. She taught elementary school there before moving to Wilmington upon her marriage in 1952.
Guided in all things by her love of God and family, Janet's life of service blossomed. She was among the first women Eucharistic ministers and lay lectors at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, a member of the parish Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a sponsor and team member of RCIA and a champion of ecumenical affairs through Church Women United, the Delmarva Ecumenical Council and the Diocese of Wilmington Pastoral Council.
Janet's most important role however was as a loving homemaker and mother. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Robert, by whom she will be greatly missed. She is also survived by her children Teresa Gentry (Jack), Michael Salemi, Marian Marro (Frank), Robert Salemi (Lori), Roseann Bromley (Don), 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her sister, Mary Reeves.
