John H Rogers, age 84, of Wilmington, DE died Saturday, June 2, 2018.

John was born in Worcester, MA to the late John H. and Helen T. Rogers. John Earned his BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnical Institute. While there, he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and ran both cross country and track, lettering in track. Upon graduation in 1958, he was hired by DuPont and moved to Buffalo, NY where he met and married his wife Barbara M. Rogers. All four of his children were born there. In 1969, John was transferred to Wilmington, DE where he traveled extensively in the US, Europe and Asia becoming a Senior Technical Specialist for DuPont. In retirement he enjoyed sharing his slides of those trips with many local nursing home residents. John’s main interests were his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His interests were photography, sports (especially baseball) and Ulster Project Delaware. In which he was active from 1977 to 2017. He was an all-around volunteer who along with his wife hosted many Northern Irish teens and leaders in their Wilmington home.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, John is survived by his 4 children, Kathleen (Charles) Furdella, John (YuYu) Rogers, Maureen Cottrell and Thomas (Suzanna) Rogers: his 11 grandchildren Julie (Stanley) Boc, Charles Furdella, Allison, Emily, Grace and John Rogers, Matthew, Kaitlin, Kimberly and Brandon Cottrell and Krista Rogers. John is also survived by his Brother William F (Bertha) Rogers. John will be missed by his loving extended family and many friends.

Calling hours will be on Friday, June 15 from 5 to 7 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 and on Saturday, June 16 from 9:30 to 10:30 at St. Mary Magdalen, 7 Sharpley Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30. Interment will follow at St Joseph’s on the Brandywine, 7 Old Church Rd, Greenville, DE 19807.
