Age, 91 of Wilmington, DE passed away on June 4, 2018. He was born in Wilmington to the late John and Margaret Fontello. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary Centofanti of 24 years and his second wife, Mary Lu Laux of 38 years; his brothers, James and Richard and sisters, Eleanor, Beatrice, Mildred and Shirley Ann.

John served his country in the United States Army during WWII. After the war he worked for General Motors. He gave many hours to Saint Anthony’s working alongside Fr. Roberto. He loved bowling and meeting his friends at Pleasant Hills. He enjoyed watching the horse races at Delaware Park. He was a good father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Jarman (Charles), and Debbie Mitchell (Don Sheeder); and his step sons, David Laux (Donna) and Brian Laux; his brothers, Robert, Milton and Paul; his sisters, Florence and Marialana. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Matthew, Lisa, Andrew, Alexander, David, Louise and Eric ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Monday June 11th at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at Saint Anthony of Padua, 901 North DuPont Street, Wilmington. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
