NANCY ANN WOLFE

Nancy A. (Williams) Wolfe of Brandywine Hundred, Wilmington, DE died Sunday July 15, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Warren W. Wolfe, Jr with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. Born in Indiana, PA, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Roberta E. (Schmidt) Williams.

Nancy grew up on her family farm in Pine Flats, PA, graduated from Purchase Line High School in Commodore, PA. She earned a BS in Home Economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a MS in Education from West Chester University, an MS in Elementary Education from Widener University and became certified in Special Education through Eastern University.

Nancy was an instructor for over 35 years, most of that time she enjoyed teaching child Care and Guidance at the Delaware County Technical School in Folcroft. Nancy touched the lives of many students, co-workers and their families through her work and with the loving and caring way she approached every task and interaction. She viewed every person as God’s gift and her definition of family extended well beyond blood relations.

A member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Nancy enjoyed teaching Sunday school, helping with dinners, mentoring, helping with Family Promise, Bible School, and fully supporting in every effort where her talents could be put to use. She particularly enjoyed driving the Family Promise van. Nancy attended Bible Study Fellowship, and was a member of the Welsh Guild of the Arch Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia for over 35 years.

Cooking, baking and sewing were her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed reading, needlework, making crafts and, in an earlier time, was very active in 4H. Nancy enjoyed coaching teams, such as FCLA and VICA for many years working with her students to learn the skills to compete, raise money for trips and use the opportunity to enable her students to truly experience the places they visited. She worked tirelessly when a situation arose that needed immediate attention. Nancy, along with Abby helped with efforts coordinated by Good Shepherd around helping the Idaho flood victims, she coordinated fund-raisers at the Technical School each year with a focus on helping with a specific effort in the community where she worked.

Nancy enjoyed travel, spending a summer in Hawaii while learning hula and badminton, she also enjoyed time at her place in the mountains of south central Pennsylvania and at the New Jersey shore with friends. She loved everything from attending country auctions to exploring large cities and particularly enjoyed travel where it involved seeing family and friends. Nancy always smiled.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Abigail Ann Greenage and her husband John R. Greenage, Jr., and granddaughter Leah Nancy, the delight of her life. She is also survived by her brothers, William R. Williams, (wife Nancy), John H. Williams, (wife Jill), many nieces and nephews and many that called her ‘Daughter,’ ‘Sister,’ ‘Aunt,’ or ‘Mom.’

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 21 from 9 – 11 AM with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1530 Foulk Road, Wilmington, DE 19803. Burial will be private.
