Beatrice (Bea) E. Johnson, age 90, of Wilmington, DE passed away on July 14, 2018.

Born in Scranton, PA on January 3, 1928, Bea also lived in Wilkes-Barre and Pittsburg, PA before moving to West Haven, CT during high school. She graduated in 1945 from West Haven High School where she was the president of the Drama Club and participated in the Journalism and Hiking Clubs. Bea attended the University of Connecticut, Stoors, Michigan State College and Lynchburg College where she studied journalism.

With her marriage to Stuart Johnson in 1950, she raised their children Karen and David and enjoyed six grandchildren, while making homes throughout the country – Pittsfield, MA, Charlotte, NC, Lynchburg, VA, Syracuse, NY, Raleigh, NC, Foster City, CA, Lexington, KY, West Chester, PA and Wilmington, DE.

Primarily a homemaker, Bea also taught school at the middle and high school levels periodically as a substitute teacher. Bea was a member of the League of Women Voters and enjoyed her participation in community theatre and Great Decisions meeting groups. Throughout her life, Bea played piano with a passion and enjoyed walking and travel.

Bea is predeceased by her husband Stuart W. Johnson and daughter Karen L. Johnson.

Bea is survived by her brothers Robert and John Eshenour and her son David Johnson. Bea is survived by her son-in-law Charles Butler and grandchildren Kate, Daniel and Julia Butler of Wilmington, DE. Bea is also survived by grandchildren Chase Butler of Alexandria, VA, Eric Johnson of Ft. Campbell, KY and Patrick Johnson of Nazareth PA.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday July 28, 2018 at McCrery & Harra at 3924 Concord Pike in Wilmington, DE. Visitation will begin at 1:30pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm.
