DAPHNE GREENIDGE

Daphne Cordelia (King) Greenidge was born October 25, 1929 in Lodge Road; Christ Church, Barbados. She was the last of three children born to Annette and Adolphus King. Daphne attended the local girl’s elementary school, graduated from Seventh Day Adventist Academy and later graduated from the junior college at Caribbean Union College in Trinidad.

Daphne held accounting and managerial positions with the Seventh-Day Adventist Caribbean conference, non-profit charities, and large companies. Near the end of her career, she became an account consultant for various small businesses. During the summer of 1955, Daphne met Cephas Greenidge that resulted in a 7 years courtship. They were united in marriage on September 2, 1962. In the years that followed they had 2 children, Sandra and David, and opened their home to a third several years later to Aubrey Prescod, the son of Daphne’s sister who had passed away.

In 1969, Cephas and Daphne accepted accounting positions at Symphonic, which was relocating from Brooklyn, NY to Lowell MA. They bought their first house nearby in Nashua, NH, staying there 10 years before moving their family to South Lancaster, MA. They lived in the area for 36 years, being active in the local community even after retirement. In 2014, they moved to Wilmington, DE with their daughter and son-in-law to receive additional support for Daphne’s care. For the last 4 years they have been surrounded by their family, getting to see 2 of 3 grandsons married, and their first great-grandson born. God in His infinite wisdom, allowed Daphne to slip into that final sleep on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 8:09am. Daphne enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening. She was a good wife of 55 years, mother, and grandmother.

Daphne is survived by her husband Cephas Greenidge; children: Sandra (David) Caddell and David (Tanya Bouzy) Greenidge; grandchildren: David (Brittney Johnson) Caddell II, Stephen (Melissa) Caddell, Matthew (Courtney) Caddell, Rachel Bouzy; great grandchild Tristan Caddell and Jay Johnson; sister-in-law: Marie Eudene Lynton; brother-in-laws: Paul Greenidge and Earle (Janice) Greenidge; 38 nieces and nephews not including their spouses, children, and grandchildren.
