BEATRICE CROSS
Beatrice M. Cross, age 102, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Presidential Towers, Claymont died on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Shipley Manor, her home for the past 13 years.
Mrs. Cross was born in New York and raised in Massachusetts. She attended Portia Law School in Boston and worked as a librarian before her marriage. She moved to Delaware in 1977 and was an active member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) from 1981-1990, working at the Woodshaven-Kruse School for Girls, the Wilmington Institute Free Library, the Delaware State Hospital and the Blood Bank of Delaware.
Her husband, Raymond died in 1980, predeceased by their son, Jeffrey in 1950. Mrs. Cross is survived by her daughter, Diana Cross Washburn of Wilmington, a nephew, Stannard Potter of Vernon, CT, a cousin, Susan Kenny of Toronto, Canada, and a devoted step-grandson, Jan Washburn of Berkeley, CA.
Mrs. Cross’ daughter would like to thank all of the dedicated staff at Shipley Manor for the skilled and compassionate care her mother received during her residence there. She also gratefully acknowledges the kindness and support provided by Compassionate Care Hospice over the last several months.
In keeping with Mrs. Cross’ wishes, there will be no services and burial will be private.
