CHARLOTTE B. BARHAM
Charlotte Gail Bivens Barham, age 92, of Wilmington, DE died October 9, 2009.
Born and raised in Bluefield, WV, Mrs. Barham was the youngest of nine children born to A. Ernest and Stella Mae Bivens. Until recently, Mrs. Barham divided her time between her homes in WV and DE. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Barham’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
In the 1960’s and 1970’s, Mrs. Barham was employed by the (now) Brandywine School District where she worked in various administrative capacities, including working in the library at Shipley Elementary School, which is now Shipley Manor where she resided. An avid Phillies fan, Mrs. Barham realized a longtime dream when she witnessed “her team” playing in the 1980 World Series.
Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and loving husband T. A. Barham, Jr., she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Betty Gail) Barham Timm and devoted son-in-law, William, and son Ted A. Barham III and wife Jane; grandchildren Ted A. Barham IV, Kristie E. Barham, Jennifer A. (Timm) Ford and husband Thomas, Joanna Gail (Timm) Sullivan and husband, Dan; great-grandchildren Samantha, Rachel, Veronica, Alexandra, and Evangeline Ford; Bregan and Wyatt Sullivan and Mrs. Barham’s namesake, Charlotte Gail Sullivan; two special nieces, Jane T. Bivens and Mary Sue Davis and many other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Shipley Manor Health Care and Delaware Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Mrs. Barham.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 15 at MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike Wilmington, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mrs. Barham’s name to Crossroads Adoption Fund, Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 627 Vance Neck Road, Middletown, DE 19709.
