PEGGY MCCOY

Margaret “Peggy” Healy McCoy, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, died suddenly on October 15, 2009. Strong and courageous, with a devout faith, Peggy successfully battled and conquered Hodgkins Disease as a teenager. For most of her career she worked in the investment advisory field, most recently for The Swarthmore Group in Philadelphia as Head Trader. The greatest joys in Peggy’s life were her large family, close friends and loving husband and children with whom she celebrated and shared her unconditional love. She was happiest when relaxing on the beach, watching movies with her loved ones, listening to her husband’s music, and indulging in life’s simple pleasures. Peggy is survived by her husband, W. Bruce McCoy; 2 sons, Mark D. McCoy (K. Ann Horsburgh), Matthew D. McCoy (Allison Ralston), 1 daughter, Erin Healy McCoy (Ryan Lockard); 5 brothers, Thomas J. “T.J.” Healy, II (Debbie), John E. Healy, III (Karen), William K. Healy (Terry), Michael J. Healy (Jan) and Kevin G. Healy (Marian); 1 sister, Nancy H. Freeborn (Bill); 1 granddaughter, Elsie and her second granddaughter, Violet, is due in January. Peggy’s father, John E. Healy, II died in 1996, her mother, Margaret A. Healy died in 2006, and her infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Healy died in 1946. A viewing will be held from 6-8pm, Wednesday, October 21 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Shipley & Weldin Rds., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Thursday, October 22 (which would have been Peggy’s 54th birthday). Interment will be at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring the memory of Peggy McCoy by sending a contribution to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
