YVONNE PALMER
Yvonne M. Palmer, of Wilmington, DE died on November 12, 2009 at home.
Yvonne was the daughter of the late Frank and Libbie Matoushek of Poyntelle, PA. She graduated from Preston High School, Lakewood, PA and Temple University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology which she practiced in Philadelphia, Syracuse and Wilmington. After leaving Wilmington for brief stays in Columbia, MD and Fairfield, CT with her husband, she gave up her career and devoted her high energy to gardening and cooking. Upon her return to Wilmington, she became involved as a volunteer at Rockwood Museum where she prepared lunches for tour groups among many other activities there. She also joined the AAUW and was instrumental in making their annual book sale a success, having been involved for over thirty years. Yvonne also participated in several of the AAUW study groups and was an active member in the Leaf and Petal Garden Club. She was a voracious reader, always having two or more books going at one time with mysteries and science fiction of special interest. Other interests included travel, art, opera and nature, particularly birds, butterflies and insects.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Alan; and sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Roland Fornes of Archbald, PA.
Funeral services will be private.
