LOUIS POLOMBO

Louis Joseph Polombo, age 86, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, PA, passed away January 11, 2010 at home. In 1982 he retired after 31 years of service with the DuPont Co., as a manager in the F & F Division. He proudly served in the Army during WWII, taking part in the Invasion of Normandy, The Battle of the Bulge and several other campaigns. After the war, Louis graduated from Wilkes College. Louis was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose Marie Polombo. He is survived by his children, James Polombo, Joann Polombo, and Barbara Ann Scarazza and her husband, Vincent; 2 grandchildren, Daniella and Michael; brother, Joseph Polombo and his wife, Doris, and their 3 children; sister, Carol Marrow; and uncle, William Stolfi. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 11 am – 12:30 pm at the McCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway (Rt. 2 at Duncan Rd.), Wilmington, DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington, DE 19805. Entombment will follow the Mass at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Louis’ name to St. Anthony of Padua Church.
