JAMES MCHENRY

James H. McHenry (Jim, Mac) Age 92, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on February 1, 2010 at his home with his loving family beside him. Born in Chester, PA, Jim was the son of the late James F. and Bertha (Stanley) McHenry. He was employed at the old Cork Insulation Plant as a supervisor, and then moved to Georgia Pacific as a supervisor. He retired from Newark High School in 1983 as their head electrician. Jim honorably served in the Army in WWII as a medic. He is a lifetime member of Cranston Heights Fire Company where he brought his medical talents to the company. He conducted Red Cross classes early on to the “Old Timers”. Jim enjoyed being a fireman. He and his late wife, Rose enjoyed gardening, fishing, and crabbing at their summer home in Sussex County. He was also a member of the Kirkwood Highway McDonalds breakfast club, best know to them as “Mac”. The family would like to thank the 5th floor nursing staff at Wilmington Hospital for their excellent care of our father, and to Compassionate Care Hospice for their unending dedication to the well being of our Dad. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Rose Marie McHenry, daughter, Virginia Carver, and son-in-law, Terry Clark. He is survived by his sons, James E. (Opal) of Lakeland, FL, C. Patrick (Saundra) of Winchester, VA, and his loving daughter and caretaker, Diane M. Clark of Wilmington. In addition he leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Road where the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 9:30 am. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
